Field Project Engineer
What you will do
Responsibilities
- Take on small to medium equipment modernization and field installation assignments as directed by the Field Engineering Manager and execute the Field Engineering Process (FEP).
- Act as the primary Project Manager for equipment modernization projects, overseeing all aspects of project management, including customer communication, scheduling, build completions in the shop, shipments, and installation planning.
- Ensure that the customer site is safe and fully prepared for the start of ASC equipment installation.
- Monitor the financial health of projects, actively seeking ways to save on costs and ensuring the project stays within budget.
- Coordinate local contractors when necessary to support installation and project needs.
- Conduct site visits early in the project to assess risk, plan logistics, and collaborate with Mechanical and Electrical Engineers on installation planning.
- Assess site layouts for field builds and provide preliminary sketches for the placement of materials, trailers, equipment, and vessels.
- Provide expert troubleshooting for any issues arising in the field, recommending solutions, and working with the field team to implement them.
- Monitor changes in project scope during installations and document change orders when required.
- Proactively plan and write lift plans to ensure safe handling and placement of equipment.
What helps you succeed
Requirements
- 4-year degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Construction Engineering, or Construction Management.
- Entry-level to 3 years of relevant experience in project management, construction, or field installations.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, manage heavy workloads, and work independently.
- Willingness to quickly gain knowledge of machinery, equipment, and tools used in field-erected autoclaves.
- Ability to travel and work in field locations up to 10% of the time, depending on project size and complexity.
- Occasional weekend work may be required.
