Mechanical Engineering Manager
What you will do
Responsibilities
- Responsible for technical aspects of the mechanical engineering projects such as design, drawings, calculations for autoclave, oven and other equipment design.
- The mechanical engineering manager is responsible for development of oven design and calculations for projects and sales. The mechanical engineering manager is responsible for becoming an expert in oven design and fabrication.
- Responsible for engineering software packages, etc. to assure coherent setting of expectations and priorities on project management and planning.
- Responsible for engineering design standards, rules, policies & procedures. The MEP (Mechanical Engineering Process) is owned by the mechanical engineering manager. It reflects the expectations of all engineering and project management activities.
- Trains, mentors, and directs engineers on overall department expectations (i.e. work hours, interactions with various departments, Appward, OMS usage, etc.) autoclave oven, and nonstandard equipment knowledge, sales engineering, design, software, purchasing tasks, etc.
- Manages and oversight of Work Order processes and execution.
- Works with each project engineer on equipment design, sales engineering, calculations, drawings, and is responsible for proper reviews.
- Communicates with customers (including email, phone calls and in-person visits) to assure ASC engineering department collaborates with all customers as partners over the course of the projects, and to control how “bad news” is delivered appropriately.
- Coordinates and determines what the departmental and individual engineer’s priorities should be so that messaging regarding deadlines, work-schedules, customer interactions, etc. is consistent.
- Responsible for efficient execution of sales engineering tasks for custom equipment quotation.
- Prepares for regular department meetings to set departmental goals and policy, make announcements, foster team-building, provide group training and more.
- Participates in weekly Production Meetings and assures that action items assigned to the Mechanical Engineering Department are completed in a timely manner.
- Participates in bi-weekly Managers Meetings.
- Prepares Mechanical Engineers’ performance evaluations.
- Responsible for interviewing, hiring, disciplining, and terminating staff.
- Reinforces ASC and Engineering Department culture and Team Values.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of five years of experience in equipment manufacturing.
- Previous leadership experience with the ability to motivate, mentor, and develop a team.
- Strong mechanical design aptitude and experience working as a design engineer.
- Exceptional project management, problem-solving, analytical, and research skills.
- Ability to make independent decisions and exercise sound judgment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills.
- Experience collaborating effectively across multiple departments.
- Positive attitude with a proactive, can-do approach.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic document management systems.
- Ability to sit for extended periods and occasionally walk through a heavy manufacturing environment.
- Comfortable working around noise, welding activities, dust, and airborne particles.
- Ability to wear required PPE, including a hard hat, steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
- Ability to travel occasionally to customer sites, including internationally.
- Valid passport and ability to travel overseas required.
