What you will do

Summary of Functions

  • Supervises production personnel on a manufacturing floor.
  • This position is responsible for ensuring work is completed safely efficiently and on schedule.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervises production workers and activities continuously to ensure adherence to production schedules and hours estimates.
  • Identifies and resolves production roadblocks including material and equipment issues and missing drawings to ensure work progress continues efficiently.
  • Evaluates production progress throughout the day and immediately addresses work steps that are falling behind and notifies production management.
  • Monitors time clock activity daily to ensure employees are working from the start of the shift through the end of the shift.
  • Enforces and acts as a champion for ASC’s policies on safety housekeeping and quality.
  • Acts as liaison between production team members and the rest of the organization.
  • Promotes ASC’s Team Values and company culture
  • Performs other duties as needed or requested by management.

Organizational Relationships

  • Reports to Production Managers and Director of Production.
  • Supervises production team.
  • Works closely with engineering planning and inventory.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years' experience as a supervisor in a related area

Experience and Educational Requirements

  • Proven Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a fast-paced manufacturing or production environment with a demonstrated ability to oversee floor operations and maintain production momentum.
  • Leadership Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in a leadership or supervisory role within a manufacturing environment with a proven track record of maintaining production flow and meeting departmental goals.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong ability to identify production bottlenecks material shortages or equipment issues in real-time and implement immediate solutions.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal communication skills to effectively act as a liaison between the production floor maintenance and management.
  • Physical Presence: Ability to remain on the production floor for the duration of the shift maintaining high visibility and accessibility to team members.
  • Safety and Quality Focus: Understanding of manufacturing safety and quality control standards with a firm commitment to enforcing these procedures without compromise.
  • Decisiveness: Ability to make quick sound decisions under pressure to keep production goals on track when unexpected issues arise.
  • Technical Aptitude: Familiarity with manufacturing equipment and processes to assist in basic troubleshooting and to accurately report mechanical issues.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to spend limited amounts of time in a heavy manufacturing environment that is not air-conditioned and has exposure to noise and dust/particles caused by welding and other fabrication activities associated with the production of industrial process equipment.
  • Sitting standing and walking for extended periods of time is common.
  • PPE will be required including hard hats protective glasses steel-toed shoes and ear protection.
  • Regular use of phone computer and calculator.
  • Hearing and vision within normal ranges is essential for normal conversations and reading.
  • Must be able to climb stairs several times a day.
