Production Trainer
What you will do
Summary of Functions
- The Production Trainer is responsible for developing delivering and evaluating hands-on training programs that ensure production employees perform their work safely efficiently and in compliance with company standards.
- This role focuses on safe use of machinery tools equipment and production processes while strengthening on boarding cross-training and workforce capability across the shop floor.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Deliver classroom and shop floor training on machinery tools forklifts man lifts rigging and safe work practices.
- Coach employees on ergonomics injury prevention productivity workmanship standards and shop discipline.
- Support onboarding of new hires and cross-training of existing staff.
- Develop and maintain training programs SOPs and visual job aids for equipment operation shop safety production processes material handling and basic troubleshooting.
- Ensure all training aligns with company procedures and standards.
- Evaluate employee competency identify skill gaps and implement refresher training.
- Maintain training records certifications and skill progression tracking.
- Train employees on shop and field safety LOTO PPE hazard recognition material handling and equipment safety.
- Promote proactive safety culture and ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards.
- Partner with Production Engineering Quality and Maintenance teams to support training needs.
- Assist in training for new equipment tooling and processes and support corrective actions through targeted training.
- Update programs based on process improvements and lessons learned.
- Identify opportunities to enhance safety productivity and workforce readiness.
- Promote standardization and best practices across departments.
Organizational Relationships
- Works as part of the mechanical production teams.
- Reports to Mechanical Production Manager and Supervisor.

Experience and Educational Requirements
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing equipment and shop operations.
- Experience with forklifts man lifts rigging and material handling.
- Understanding of safety ergonomics and injury prevention
- Ability to read blueprints and work instructions.
- Strong communication coaching and team collaboration skills.
- Skilled in assessing performance problem-solving and motivating employees
Physical Requirements
- The following requirements are essential for safe performance of this job:
- Must be able to repeatedly lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs. and twist at the waist.
- Must be able to frequently push and pull objects weighing 50 lbs.
- Must be able to stand sit walk squat kneel and lie on level uneven and slippery concrete surfaces.
- Must be able to reach through low and high ranges and exhibit normal balance and coordination.
- Must be able to sit and stand on hard surfaces for long periods of time lasting up to 10 hours.
- Manual dexterity within normal ranges for use of common tools is required.
- Must be able to push and pull within normal ranges.
- Must be able to grip within normal ranges.
- Must be able to climb using 3 points of contact.
- Must be capable of working in extreme temperatures (hot and cold).
- Color vision hearing and vision must be in normal ranges.
Work Environment
- Must be able to work safely in a heavy manufacturing environment.
- Exposure to weather conditions such as cold and heat noise and dust particles caused by welding and other fabrication activities associated with the production of industrial process equipment.
- PPE will be required which includes hard hats steel-toed shoes protective glasses and ear protection.
- Additional protective devices such as dust masks or respirators are available if desired.
